Our Instructor

Asha Thornton

I

Professional Pianist, Vocalist, Coach, Music Analyst, and Writer

Asha Thornton received her teaching degree through the Royal Conservatory of Music and started teaching at the early age of 17 years old.

A classical background and training gave her great deal of technical knowledge about music, but as she developed her teaching methodology, I realized that classical training had its drawbacks.  Often classical training hinders the creative process and can stifle a students ability to create music, it is also contrary technique in comparison to contemporary music. She then began to study all types of music and unlocked and mastered vocal techniques apart from classical.

Her goal in teaching music is not only to teach students the techniques that they need to become successful and confident artists and musicians, but how to relate these ideas to the rest of their lives. I believe any individual can become a success in music, if they have the desire and drive to do the work. I can help foster these qualities so that students can flourish in music!
